Opening credits

I read somewhere that every blog should have a purpose. I don't know what the purpose of this blog is to be. I guess we'll find out as it develops...

I should start by introducing myself: I'm a South African and newly New Zealander (see what I did there?) doing my masters in archaeology. I love many things. These include: my cat Lakrids (I'm well on my way to becoming a crazy cat lady), cooking, baking (and eating), travelling (and eating), climbing trees, sunshine, the rain, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, reading, reading and watching things when I should be writing my thesis, pyjamas, dresses, strangers who smile or say hello while on a walk, the sea, Jane Goodall, wearing lots of colours (often clashing) (or so I'm told, I don't think they clash..),using excessive amounts of brackets while writing, receiving actual mail, playing piano, puns, alliteration, finding other people who are as big a nerd as I am, art galleries, museums and, as you may have guessed, rambling pointlessly and at length. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

The things I hate are less but include people who say "brought" when they mean "bought" (did you bring it or buy it????), the thought of wool in my mouth, and having cold toes (you know when they're so cold that they hurt?).

So, I guess, this blog will follow me hopefully upping my word count and finishing my thesis sometime in the next six months, but also allow me to rant, rave and ramble (the 3 r's) about yummies, any projects or thoughts I have going on at the moment, maybe entertain someone (..?), and, perhaps, help me to do any of those cliche things like finding myself, making sense of my life, ordering it somehow and have a eureka moment/epiphany. Also teach me to shorten my sentences? Miracles still happen...
