I was meant to have made a rhubarb cobbler (part of my fresh farmers market produce) for a pot luck this evening, but was far too lazy. Instead I got cookies and cream ice cream (yum!!) and mars bar and cream to make chocolate sauce. I got the idea from one of those fat camp tv programmes while they were showing one of the participant's bad eating habits. Inspiration can strike at any moment.
I just got back from said pot luck to find policemen and dogs outside of my house. I have no idea what was going on but it was all rather exciting. And then I got terrified when I thought it might be some crazed lunatic on the loose. I made it up the pathway without being jumped or chased so I'm going to assume it's probably nothing. I mean, cops are allowed to walk their dogs whenever they please, they're cops! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled in the papers tomorrow though. I hope it's something a little bit exciting. Not too exciting, just a little bit.
I thought, as I've not done anything too interesting

other than some readings (finally) today, I'd showcase some of the cakes I've made, inspired by one of my favourite blogs,
cake wrecks .The Sunday Sweets are my favourite and I'm hoping one day I'll be able to make some awesome cakes like those ones. The one on the right is a carrot cake(my specialty) I made for my friend Amanda's bridal shower. It's based on the wedding invitations.

The next one I made for my mum's colleague's birthday, also carrot, but with modelling chocolate over the cream cheese icing (a staple of every carrot cake). She is busy learning Italian hence the attempt at an Italian theme.

The third cake is one I made for my wife on facebook (WOF) Liz, the stepmother to my cat Lakrids, who also features as the fattest cat chasing the green ball of yarn. This is also a carrot cake (you might begin to sense a bit of a theme here..).

The fourth is a chocolate cake (the same one I've made since I was 8 years old) with a photo recreated in chocolate of my dear Lakrids, who my brother also loves.
The last is a Strawberry Shortcake

cake I made for my friend's daughter who was obviously turning three. The top tier is carrot with cream cheese icing, the bottom is chocolate with chocolate icing, and the whole is covered again with modelling chocolate, my favourite baking medium :)
And that is all I have to show at the moment but hopefully there will be more to come :)
